Drenal's Stone Flame

When this spell is cast upon an open flame no larger than that of a torch or very small campfire, the flame is turned into an orange stone, holding the size and shape of the flame at the time of casting. The stone flame remains attached to the torch or ground as if it were a part of it. The stone gives off illumination as if it were flame, but no heat. It will return to flame at the end of the duration. If the stone is shattered, the flame is extinguished.

The material component for this spell is a mix of fine sand and sugar, which is sprinkled in the air as the caster chants the verbal component and points at the desired open flame.

Notes: Very rare spell. Known to be in Drenal's Notebook. (Updated from DRAGON Magazine.)
